En pats, de eerste de beste race na de met spoed doorgevoerde reglementswijzigingen (zie mijn vorige log) is het raak. De spanning is per direct weer terug.
Tony Kanaan vatte het als volgt samen:
"It was a good one, it was a helluva race. It was pretty much raced clean. The people came here to see a photo finish and we did it. I got to thank the (Indy Racing) League, Brian Barnhart and all the officials and the guys that came up with this package, and for the push to pass, and Firestone did a great job to. I can still hear the fans, so I want to thank them for coming. The old IRL is back. We'll have some exciting races on the superspeedways again."
Briscoe wint met 0,0162 seconde voorsprong op Ed Carpenter. De eerste vijf coureurs finishten op de Kentucky Speedway binnen 0,6 seconde.
"The people came here to see a photofinish" en dat is juist het saaie aan een Amerikaanse race, alles is kunstmatig opgezet dat ze maar tot het einde bij elkaar blijven, er is geen echte competitie, alles moet zoveel mogelijk hetzelfde blijven. Hopelijk wordt de formule 1 niet zo, met allemaal dezelfde motoren en dezelfde onderdelen. Een Amerikaanse organisator had het volgende oordeel, "we only mind the number of visitors, we don't give a damd about motorsport, this is pure amusement industry".
